As a traveller, it is common for us to learn a few basic rules or information related to the chosen destination. Some believe that it is one of the essential survival skills to adapt to different areas. It is one of the ways to show respect and gratitude to the native people as we are being educated regarding their culture and language.

Recently, a Malaysian traveller shared his memorable moment at Hoi An in Vietnam, which may have caught fellow Malaysian’s hearts. He was surprised by the young woman’s ability to speak fluently in Bahasa Melayu. She greeted him in enthusiastic manners, with a full face in the brightest smile. The creator felt proud to embrace his originality as a Malaysian citizen. Not only being recognised by our culture, but our national language may successfully surpass the native barrier. As long as we are proud to embrace our identity by communicating in Bahasa Melayu.

This sudden approach leaves his heart in warmth, as he did not expect the native woman to speak in Bahasa Melayu along with the correct pronunciation and slang. Positive comments from Malaysian netizens flooded his video, astonished by the young woman’s verbal ability. Some said that she is much more of a smooth talker than Malaysian citizens themselves.
