Reigate Grammar School Officially Opens Purpose-Built Kajang 2 Campus

Reigate Grammar School Kuala Lumpur (RGSKL) has officially opened its purpose-built campus in Kajang 2, bringing a long tradition of British educational excellence to Malaysia through its partnership with the Beaconhouse Group. Founded in 1675, Reigate Grammar School in the United Kingdom is one of England’s most respected independent schools, well known for its strong academics, outstanding pastoral care and focus on developing the whole child.

The opening ceremony was attended by senior representatives from the Ministry of Education, including the Deputy Director of Private Education, Dr. Sarifah Norazah. Also in attendance were Richard Colley, Country Director, Department of Business and Trade, British High Commission, and Hamza Naveed, Community Welfare Attaché, Pakistan High Commission. The event was joined by Kasim Kasuri, CEO of Beaconhouse, Nassir Kasuri, Executive Director of Beaconhouse, senior Beaconhouse staff, and representatives from Reigate Grammar School, including Shaun Fenton, Executive Headmaster of the Reigate Grammar School Group, Sean Davey, Global Business Director, and colleagues from RGS campuses across the region.

“Our official opening is an important milestone. We are proud to bring Reigate Grammar School’s heritage and values to Malaysia. We want to build a warm and inclusive community where every student feels supported, inspired and confident to do their best,” said Philip Bailey, Principal of Reigate Grammar School Kuala Lumpur.

RGSKL delivers a distinctive British education shaped by the school’s core values of curiosity, resilience, ethics, respect and creativity. These values guide learning across all year groups, from Early Years through to A Levels. Every student is known and supported, with a strong emphasis on academic progress, wellbeing and personal growth.

The school offers a vibrant environment where students can explore their interests through a diverse range of sports, music, drama, and creative arts. Regular trips and experiential learning activities complement classroom teaching, encouraging curiosity, teamwork and confidence.

The Kajang 2 campus has been designed for modern, holistic learning and includes eight science laboratories, a two-floor library, a full-sized astro turf, swimming pool, indoor multi-purpose hall, outdoor courts, tennis courts and two climbing walls. A state-of-the-art boarding facility for 250 students will open in August 2027. Supervised accommodation nearby is available until the boarding house is completed, and the school also provides a convenient bus service.

RGSKL currently educates more than 400 students from 28 nationalities, with the capacity for 1,250 students in total. This diverse community reflects Malaysia’s global outlook and creates a welcoming and international school environment.

Shaun Fenton, Executive Headmaster of the Reigate Grammar School Group, said, “Our legacy of more than 350 years in British education provides a strong foundation for students at the Kuala Lumpur campus. We want every young person to grow academically and personally while developing a global perspective.”

RGSKL operates in partnership with the Beaconhouse Group, one of the world’s largest education networks with more than 380,000 students across eight countries, including 13 schools in the Klang Valley. Together, the partnership combines international expertise with local insight to provide a high-quality British education that reflects Malaysia’s culture and values.

“Our partnership with Beaconhouse strengthens our mission to deliver an education that builds character as well as academic success. We want our students to be ready for the future and confident in who they are,” added Philip Bailey.
