University of Cyberjaya Launches Tan Sri Dr. Lim Wee Chai Visiting Professorship in Lifestyle Medicine

The University of Cyberjaya (UoC) just scored a major win for health and wellness.

Tan Sri Dr. Lim Wee Chai, Founder and Executive Chairman of Top Glove Corporation Bhd, has partnered with the university to create the Tan Sri Dr. Lim Wee Chai Visiting Professorship in Lifestyle Medicine.

A RM2 million endowed fund supports the initiatives. This professorship aims to advance research and education in the field of lifestyle medicine.

The professorship will bring leading experts from global universities to UoC, where they will teach, mentor students, collaborate on research, and host public talks demonstrating how lifestyle changes in areas such as:

  • think healthy eating
  • exercise
  • sleep
  • stress management
  • social connections

All those elements can prevent, treat, and even reverse chronic diseases like diabetes.

University of Cyberjaya, Endowed Ensures Long-Term Impact

Tan Sri Dr. Lim contributed RM1 million, which was matched by UoC to create a permanent fund. The fund will generate income to support the initiative for years to come.

An Endowed Oversight Committee, made up of UoC leaders and representatives of Tan Sri Dr. Lim Wee Chai, will oversee the fund. They will ensure it generates maximum impact for the initiative.

“Lifestyle diseases are taking a toll on society,” said Tan Sri Dr. Lim.

“My ‘5 Healthy Wells’ philosophy are clean well, work well, exercise well, and sleep well which is all about simple habits anyone can adopt. I hope this Professorship inspires students, healthcare professionals, and the public to take charge of their health.”

Malaysia Steps Up in Preventive Healthcare

UoC Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. David Whitford added:

“We’re grateful to Tan Sri Dr. Lim for his support. This professorship will help us train future healthcare leaders who truly understand the power of healthy living.”

The university is now scouting top global candidates for role, with an official announcement expected at an upcoming Lifestyle Medicine platform.

With this initiative, Malaysia is stepping up its game in preventive healthcare, proving that staying healthy isn’t just smart; it’s trendy.
