Pullman Kuching Unveils Nu Er Hong [女兒紅]

KUCHING, SARAWAK, 21 June 2026 – Pullman Kuching today officially opened Nu Er Hong [女兒紅], its newly transformed signature Chinese Halal restaurant, marking a significant milestone for the hotel and Sarawak’s premium dining scene. The launch was officiated by Datu Hii Chang Kee, Sarawak Deputy State Secretary (Operation), alongside Datin Lau Ngok Yung, Executive Chairman of Interhill Group, Mr. Albert Hu, Managing Director of Interhill Group, and Madam Rogina Hu, Executive Director of Interhill Group.

The restaurant is now open to the public, offering a halal-certified Chinese fine dining experience rooted in the coastal culinary traditions of Zhejiang, Fujian, and Guangdong. Purpose-built to serve as a “House of Harmony” and a “Table for Milestones,” Nu Er Hong positions itself as the premier venue in Sarawak for corporate banquets, private celebrations, and milestone events.

A Restaurant Built on Purpose and Distinction

Nu Er Hong is more than a dining destination. It is grounded in a simple conviction: that life’s most meaningful moments deserve patience, integrity, and intention. Its name draws from the Chinese tradition of sealing wine at a daughter’s birth and unearthing it on her wedding day, a ritual of waiting, of trust, and of honouring time.

As a halal-certified Chinese fine-dining venue, Nu Er Hong offers something distinctive in Kuching, Sarawak. Its private rooms are conceived as legacy spaces, each themed for the occasions it hosts, from weddings to corporate board dinners to family reunions. They are designed not only as private dining rooms but as settings for meaningful gatherings.

By embedding this distinctive dining concept within Sarawak’s leading upscale hotel, Pullman Kuching strengthens its position in the region’s growing MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) market. Corporate event organisers can now offer world-class banqueting without leaving the
property, while the premium wedding sector gains a venue capable of hosting inclusive, heritage-driven celebrations.

“With Nu Er Hong, we are not just opening a restaurant. We are making a statement about what Sarawak can offer to the world,” said Mr Sunardi Song, General Manager of Pullman Kuching.

“This is a place where global sophistication meets local heritage, where Halal integrity meets coastal Chinese artistry, and where every meal becomes a milestone. As Sarawak continues to grow as a premier destination for business and leisure, Nu Er Hong stands ready to welcome the world to our table: a House of Harmony, a Table for Milestones.”

Design Rooted in the Maritime Silk Road

The restaurant’s design draws inspiration from the historic Maritime Silk Road, the network of trade routes that once connected cultures across Asia. The interiors are layered with subtle references to Fujian craftsmanship, delicate Longjing tea hues, and nautical motifs that evoke the journey of a grand trading
ship.

Spatial arrangements balance intimate corners for quiet celebration with an open, flowing energy, making every meal feel like a cherished occasion.

A Menu That Tells a Story

Under the culinary direction of Chef Charles, the menu is a careful execution of time-honoured techniques, Halal-certified and inspired by the coastal regions of Zhejiang, Fujian, and Guangdong. At the launch, guests were treated to signature dishes including the Nu Er Hong Roasted Duck, presented at a live-carving station; Fujian Braised Two-Headed Supreme Abalone with King Oyster Sauce; and Baked Char Siu Cod Fish.

The programme included a traditional lion dance by the Kuching Fu Hok Dragon and Lion Dance Association, live performances by Diana Liu and the Oriental Traditional Orchestra Kuching, private dining room tours, a kung fu tea ceremony, and the symbolic First Pour Ritual, an alcohol-free ceremony honouring the restaurant’s sixteen-year journey and its commitment to celebrating life’s milestones. Media and Sarawakian creators including Angeline Chan, Winson Voon, and Mohamad Sofian Bujang (Chopie) were also in attendance.

Guests departed with artisanal jars of Nu Er Hong Chilli Oils and Caramelised Walnuts, a signature from Chef Charles’ kitchen representing the blend of spice, crunch, and long-term curation that defines the new era of the restaurant.
