Eco-Shop Contributed Over RM36,000 To Support Fire-Affected Families In Kota Bharu

KOTA BHARU, 3 JULY 2026 – Over twenty families in Kampung Gok Kapur, Kota Bharu are coming to terms with the loss of their homes and belongings after a fire swept through the area on 8 June 2026. In response, Malaysia’s leading ultra-affordable household retailer, Eco-Shop, has contributed over RM36,000 in relief assistance to the affected families, reaffirming the company’s commitment to supporting communities during times of hardship.

Recognising the challenges faced by the community, Eco-Shop extended support through financial assistance and cash vouchers, helping to ease their immediate needs in the aftermath of the fire. The support was presented during a handover ceremony attended by community representatives.

Mr. Patrick Teoh, Regional General Manager East Coast Malaysia of Eco-Shop, said the company hopes the contribution will provide some relief as affected families work towards rebuilding their lives.

“At Eco-Shop, we believe that communities become stronger when people come together to support one another during difficult times. While we cannot undo the hardship experienced by the affected families, we hope this contribution helps ease some of their immediate concerns and provide encouragement as they move forward,” said Mr. Patrick.

The handover ceremony was held at Masjid Al Ikhsan, where Alias Bin Mamat, Ketua Rukun Tetangga Kampung Gok Kapur, received a mock cheque on behalf of the recipients before Eco-Shop representatives presented the cash vouchers to the affected families.

“As a retailer serving communities across Malaysia, we are grateful for the opportunity to lend a helping hand when it is needed most. We hope this small gesture reminds the families of Kampung Gok Kapur that they are not alone, and that the community stands with them throughout their recovery,” Mr. Patrick concluded.

Eco-Shop remains committed to supporting communities beyond its stores, responding to those in need and contributing towards building stronger, more resilient communities across Malaysia.
