The Chicken Rice Shop (TCRS) is celebrating 26 years in Malaysia with more than just a birthday cake.
The homegrown halal restaurant chain has unveiled a brand refresh, featuring a revamped mascot, new staff uniforms, an updated menu and a range of new offerings while keeping its signature chicken rice at the heart of it all.
More Than Just Chicken Rice
While its Hainanese Chicken Rice remains a fan favourite, TCRS is expanding its menu with new creations including Boneless Crispy Roast Chicken, Strawberry Kunafa Pai Tee, BBQ Chicken Mayo Pai Tee, and Cakoi with Pandan Gula Melaka.
The brand is also bringing some of its flavours home with new merchandise, including its own Sambal Chilli Crunch.
The refresh reflects TCRS’ aim to keep the familiar Malaysian flavours customers have grown up with while introducing new dishes and experiences along the way.
26 Years of Giving Back
The anniversary also highlights TCRS’ long-running commitment to the community.
Since 2000, the brand has sponsored more than 7,000 meals annually to orphanages, welfare organisations and nurseries across Malaysia through its CSR initiatives.
From its first outlet in 2000, TCRS has since grown to more than 160 outlets nationwide, making it one of Malaysia’s most recognisable homegrown casual dining chains.
There’s a Merdeka Deal Too
To mark the anniversary and upcoming National Day celebrations, TCRS has also launched its annual Merdeka campaign, running until 20 September 2026.
The highlight? A RM16.90 Merdeka Combo featuring:
- Single Portion Chicken — Steamed, Roast or Soy Sauce
- Chicken Rice
- Keropok Lekor or Penang Rojak
- 12oz Soft Drink
Basically, a full meal of Malaysian favourites without breaking the bank.
As TCRS enters its 27th year, the brand says it remains focused on staying familiar while finding new ways to serve Malaysians whether through new flavours, refreshed branding or giving back to the communities that have supported it for more than two decades.
