Your Sonos speakers are about to get a whole lot smarter.
Sonos has introduced Sonos 27, its next-generation audio operating system, alongside two new products, Beam Ultra and Sonos Ace Ultra, bringing new ways to control, move and experience sound around the home.
At the centre of the update is a more intelligent Sonos system, with new AI-powered controls, improved ways to move audio between devices and a redesigned app.
Your music, now with AI
Sonos 27 expands how users can interact with their audio system, including support for multiple AI assistants and agents.
That includes Sonos 27voice, the brand’s own assistant designed for music and mood curation, as well as Sonos 27mcp, which lets users connect their Sonos system to AI assistants of their choice, including ChatGPT.
In simple terms, you could ask ChatGPT to play music around your home without having to leave the conversation.
Sonos is also previewing Sonos Custom Agents, which will eventually let users create their own AI agents with customised models, personalities and voices.
Sound that follows you
Sonos 27 also introduces Sonos Fabric, which allows Sonos products to recognise one another and adapt to how they’re being used.
One of the more interesting additions is headphone linking, which lets users move whatever is playing on their Sonos system directly to the new Sonos Ace Ultra and back again with a single press.
The system also uses Sonos Positioning Technology to detect where compatible portable speakers are placed, allowing them to automatically become rear surrounds when positioned correctly.
Meet Beam Ultra
The new Beam Ultra takes Sonos’ compact soundbar concept and turns up the immersion.
The mid-sized soundbar delivers 7.1.2 Dolby Atmos through nine custom drivers, including two dedicated up-firing drivers, while a redesigned centre channel aims to make dialogue clearer.
There’s also four levels of AI Speech Enhancement for adjusting dialogue clarity, plus Night Sound for quieter late-night viewing.
And if you want to build a bigger setup later, Beam Ultra can be paired with a Sonos Sub or compatible rear speakers.
Meet Sonos Ace Ultra
For those who prefer their music away from the living room, Sonos Ace Ultra is the brand’s latest premium over-ear headphone.
It features a Sonos-designed 40mm driver, Adaptive ANC powered by 10 microphones and up to 35 hours of battery life with ANC switched on.
More importantly, it’s the first Sonos headphone built on Headphone Engine 2, allowing it to connect directly to the Sonos system through headphone linking.
So when you want to move from speaker mode to headphones, you can switch the audio without needing your phone nearby.
Coming to Malaysia
The new Sonos experience will be arriving in Malaysia through official distributor TC Acoustic.
The updated Sonos 27 app navigation and Portable Surrounds will begin rolling out from September 8, while Sonos 27mcp will launch in Early Access.
Beam Ultra and Sonos Ace Ultra will be available for pre-order from September 2 via TC Acoustic and the Sonos Concept Store @ The Starhill.

The new products will be available from September 29, with selected Sonos Ace Ultra colours also available for pre-order on Lazada Malaysia from September 15.
With Sonos 27, the brand is clearly looking beyond simply making better speakers, it’s building an audio system that can become smarter, more connected and more personalised over time.
