MICHELIN Guide 2027 Welcomes New Stars and 16 Dining Additions in KL and Penang

The MICHELIN Guide Kuala Lumpur & Penang 2027 has unveiled its fifth edition, recognising 159 dining establishments across both cities.

This year’s selection features one Two MICHELIN Star restaurant, nine One MICHELIN Star restaurants, 60 Bib Gourmand and 89 MICHELIN-Selected establishments.

One of the highlights is Potager, which earns its first One MICHELIN Star, bringing the category’s total to nine restaurants. Meanwhile, Dewakan retains its Two MICHELIN Stars, remaining the only restaurant in Malaysia with the distinction.

Four New Bib Gourmand Restaurants

The Bib Gourmand category welcomes four new additions, recognising establishments that offer good-quality cooking at great value.

In Kuala Lumpur, 7 Chai Ipoh Hor Fun serves flat rice noodles in chicken and shrimp broth, while Minji Bak Kut Teh is known for its 80-year-old family recipe.

Penang’s new additions include Lemon Koay Teow Soup, known for its pork bone broth, and Serabai Istimewa, which serves traditional coconut milk rice pancakes with palm sugar syrup.

12 New MICHELIN-Selected Restaurants

The MICHELIN-Selected category also welcomes 12 new establishments, six each from Kuala Lumpur and Penang.

Kuala Lumpur’s additions include As I Am by Chef Ton (Thai), Jhol (Indian), Merdeka Grill (European), Tangram (contemporary Asian), White N Black Kampong (kampung-style cuisine) and Yellow Fin Horse (Mediterranean).

Meanwhile, Penang’s new entries are Deens Maju, Flower Mulan, Hameediyah, Khaosan, Root House by Gēn and See Kong Ooi. Their offerings range from traditional nasi kandar and Nyonya dishes to contemporary Thai and Malaysian Chinese cuisine.

Four Special Awards Recognise Culinary Talent

With 16 new additions across its Bib Gourmand and MICHELIN-Selected categories, this year’s selection continues to showcase Malaysia’s diverse dining scene, from traditional local favourites to contemporary culinary experiences.
