Theme Parks Make Up Nearly 40% of Malaysians’ Year-End Experience Bookings on Klook

Theme parks are shaping Malaysians’ year-end travel plans, accounting for 38.8% of all experience bookings on Klook, according to the platform’s latest booking data.

Japan remains the top overseas destination, making up 31.2% of bookings, followed by Mainland China and South Korea. Meanwhile, Busan is gaining ground on Seoul, while Osaka is nearly matching Tokyo in popularity.

Busan and Osaka Gain Ground Beyond Popular Capitals

South Korea-bound bookings show Seoul leading at 37%, closely followed by Busan at 35%. In Japan, Tokyo takes the top spot with 25.6%, just ahead of Osaka at 24.8%.

According to Klook’s General Manager for Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam, Sarah Wan, travellers are increasingly looking beyond traditional tourist hotspots for experience-filled getaways.

Domestic Attractions Remain Popular

Malaysia accounts for 15.5% of total bookings made by local travellers, with Subang Jaya, Genting Highlands, Langkawi and Ipoh among the popular domestic destinations.

Family-friendly attractions also remain a major draw. Nearly all water park bookings, alongside 83% of playground bookings and 68% of zoo and animal park bookings, are for domestic destinations.

Theme Parks Lead Year-End Experience Bookings

Theme parks dominate Malaysian travellers’ experience bookings at 38.8%, nearly three times the share of tours at 13.3%. Japan accounts for half of these theme park bookings, followed by Mainland China at 20%.

Mainland China is also attracting interest as the second most-booked overseas destination. Shanghai and Beijing lead with 34.4% and 28.1% of bookings respectively. Theme parks account for approximately one-third of Malaysian bookings to the country.

Water parks also feature among popular choices, making up 7% of total experience bookings.

Klook Rolls Out Festive Deals and eSIM Rewards

To encourage early holiday planning, Klook is offering 3GB of complimentary data in its eSIM Data Bank to users who create an experience wishlist by 9 November 2026. The feature allows travellers to carry forward unused eSIM data for future trips, subject to destination availability.

Travellers can also look forward to several upcoming promotions:

  • 11.11 Sale (1–12 November): Exclusive partner deals on attractions, hotels and transport.
  • Year End Sale (13 November–3 January): Platform promo codes, winter activity discounts and F&B perks.
  • 12.12 Mega Sale (1–13 December): Buy 1 Free 1 offers.

With theme parks and family-friendly attractions leading the way, Klook’s latest data highlights how Malaysians are putting experiences at the centre of their year-end holiday plans.
