Klook Launches First-of-its-Kind ‘Bloom Back Guarantee’ for Japan’s Spring Season

Every spring, thousands of Malaysians chase the same dreamy moment: standing under a canopy of soft pink cherry blossoms somewhere in Japan or South Korea.

But if you’ve ever tried planning a sakura trip, you’ll know one thing: the blooms don’t always cooperate. One week too early or too late, and the iconic pink landscape can disappear.

Now, Klook is stepping in with a clever solution to calm that very real travel fear: bloom anxiety.

No Blooms? Get Your Money Back

As part of its 2026 spring campaign, the pan-regional experiences platform has introduced the Bloom Back Guarantee, a first-of-its-kind travel protection designed specifically for cherry blossom season.

Here’s the promise: if the blossoms don’t bloom during the official forecasted period, travellers can receive a 30% refund on selected tours in Japan and South Korea.

For anyone who has planned a sakura trip months in advance, this feels like the ultimate safety net. Cherry blossom timing has always been notoriously unpredictable, thanks to changing weather patterns, which often leaves travellers gambling on dates.

With the Bloom Back Guarantee, missing the bloom doesn’t have to mean missing out completely.

Malaysians Are Planning Spring Travel Differently

Alongside the guarantee, Klook also launched its Spring Readiness Index, a seasonal pulse check that reveals how travellers are preparing for the busiest bloom-chasing period of the year.

For Malaysians, the results show one clear trend: spring travel is back in a big way.

According to the index:

  • 66% of Malaysians named Japan as their top spring destination
  • 54% chose South Korea
  • 47% are eyeing China

The renewed travel appetite is partly fuelled by a stronger ringgit, giving Malaysian travellers more spending power overseas this year.

But beyond where they’re going, how they travel is also changing.

The Rise of the “Experience Chase”

Instead of ticking off just one city, many Malaysians are turning their spring holidays into multi-destination adventures.

In fact, 74% of travellers now plan trips across multiple cities, using major hubs as launchpads to explore lesser-known gems.

In Japan, travellers are venturing beyond the usual Tokyo-Kyoto route to discover places like:

  • Nagoya
  • Shizuoka
  • Hakone

Meanwhile in South Korea, regions like Gyeonggi-do are gaining attention as alternative cherry blossom viewing spots away from the crowds.

There’s also a growing trend toward flexible planning. About 70% of Malaysian travellers now book activities within two months of departure, allowing them to adjust plans based on real-time blossom forecasts.

Still, a few concerns remain. Half of travellers worry about peak-season price surges, while 49% fear missing out on attraction slots during the busy spring period.

Meet the “Chief Spring Officers”

To help travellers navigate the chaotic bloom season, Klook even introduced a unique role earlier this year: Chief Spring Officer.

Think of it as a real-time travel council made up of regional representatives sharing live updates from the ground.

For Malaysia, the role is represented by Chanwon, who will share firsthand travel insights, tips and recommendations throughout the season.

Travellers can follow the updates directly on Instagram via @klookmy, turning social media into a live cherry blossom travel guide.

More Ways Malaysians Can Save This Spring

To make spring travel even more accessible, Klook is also rolling out several Malaysia-exclusive promotions.

Travellers can enjoy:

  • Up to RM1,200 in savings through cherry blossom promo codes
  • 6% off weekly deals for Japan, Korea, China and Taiwan
  • TKIF (Thank Klook It’s Friday) — an extra 10% off every Friday at 12PM

For those looking to escape the usual tourist crowds, the platform is also offering curated experiences, including exclusive tours to the Secret Garden at Everland Resort, a hidden spot known for its quieter cherry blossom views.

Turning Travel Insights into Real Solutions

“Spring travel today reflects a more intentional mindset,” says Marcus Yong.

Through initiatives like the Bloom Back Guarantee and the Spring Readiness Index, the company hopes to turn seasonal insights into real-world solutions that help travellers plan smarter.

Because when it comes to chasing cherry blossoms, timing is everything, but peace of mind might be even better.
