The world is taking serious steps in preventing the coronavirus from getting worst. Until now, up to 2.4 million cases of COVID-19 have been reported worldwide.
China being the center of the pandemic, is fighting to curb the disease. It has more than 80,000 confirmed coronavirus cases and more than 4,000 death tolls.
In Jingzhou, China, a 68-year-old woman is diagnosed with the virus for the second time on August 9. She had tested positive previously on February 8 and beat the disease later that month, according to the Jingzhou government. The patient has been quarantined and is receiving treatment. Her close contacts have all been tracked down and tested for the infection.
There are a few more cases where patients were infected with the virus again. Such cases raised concerns about the world that this virus needs to be paid more attention to.
There are no scientifically proven cases of someone catching it twice. Some medics said it can be because the tests were not sensitive enough to notice that the patients are still carrying the virus and some say it is not uncommon for parts of viruses to keep circulating even after recovery.
Traditionally, people who were infected with viruses will develop self-immunity. Levels of immunity will stay in the body for a period of time to fight off the virus.
More comprehensive studies were done by the scientists on how immunity from coronavirus works.
