As for the rest of 2020, foreign tourists will not be allowed to visit Bali due to COVID-19 concerns. Before this, the Indonesian Island said it would let foreign tourists return on September 11.
Because of the COVID-19, the plan to open up the holiday hotspot was scrapped. At the end of July, Bali has re-opened beaches tourist spots and even temples for domestic visitors.
But now, all of the plans had to be canceled due to concerns over the increasing number of Indonesian COVID-19 cases and with many foreigners being banned from traveling in their home countries.
“The situation in Indonesia is not conducive to allow international tourists to visit Indonesia, including…Bali,” said I Wayan Koster, the island’s governor in an official letter.
“The central government supports (Bali’s) plans to recover tourism by opening the doors for international tourists. However, this requires care, prudence, not to be rushed, and requires careful preparation,” he added.
For now, he did not reveal any new date to allowed foreign tourists to visit Bali. The Indonesian island has recorded around 52 death with over 4,000 cases of the deadly virus.
“New cases are under control, the recovery rate is increasing and the fatality rate is under control,” said Koster.
