The total number of positive COVID-19 cases worldwide is now close to 40 million. This is due to more than hundreds of thousands of new infections being recorded within 24 hours.
Positive cases around the world now number 39.8 million. According to the latest Johns Hopkins University data, it shows that the United States (US) remains the worst affected country with over eight million cases of infection.
This was followed by India with 7.4 million cases, while Brazil recorded over 5.2 million cases. COVID-19 infection in Russia surpassed 1.39 million cases.
Meanwhile, countries such as Argentina, Colombia, Spain, Peru, and Mexico surpassed half a million cases.
France, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and Iran are also among the countries with over 500,000 cases.
For countries in the range of 300,000 to 500,000 cases of COVID-19 infection are Chile, Iraq, Italy, Bangladesh, Germany, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
While countries that exceed 100,000 to 200,000 are Canada, Belgium, Romania, Morocco, and Poland.
