KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 9 — There is no change in the flood situation in the east coast states in the peninsula today, with still 39 evacuees recorded in Kelantan and Terengganu since last night.
In KELANTAN, there are 30 victims still at a relief center (PPS) in Pasir Mas as of 8 am today.
Pasir Mas Social Welfare officer Azizan Aziz said the 30 victims, comprising six families, are being accommodated at the PPS at Sekolah Kebangsaan Tok Deh.
“They have yet to return home as their houses, which are in the low-lying areas, are still in floodwater,” he said when contacted by Bernama today.
Meanwhile, according to the Drainage and Irrigation Department’s website at 8 am today, the water in Sungai Golok at the flood assessment point in alert level Rantau Panjang has receded to the alert level of 7 meters.
The weather in Kelantan this morning is reported fine.
In TERENGGANU, there is also no change in the flood situation. Four families comprising five victims are still staying at the PPS at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Merchang in Marang at 8 am today.
Head of the State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat Lieutenant Colonel (PA) Che Adam A Rahman said the committee would assess the situation again whether or not to allow the victims to return home today.
“The stagnant flood water has receded yesterday and the weather is improving today. We will assess the situation again whether to allow them to return home and close the PPS,” he added.
