After several COVID-related delays, Fast & Furious 9 will be released this year, with two more films following to wrap up the franchise.
The series got undeniably bigger (and longer), going from a shabby street racing movie to explosions and drama.
There really is only one reasonable way for the franchise to go from here; interstellar.
But will that really be something that filmmakers do? How can automobiles even work in space? Vin Diesel spoke about the upcoming ninth entry and was asked about the prevailing space rumors that he was happy to continue to confirm or refute.
“No spoilers over here,” he told Entertainment Weekly.
“I will say that Justin is one of those think-outside-of-the-box directors. I’d put nothing past him and he will thoroughly play with whatever is plausible to incorporate into the story.”
The tease he is, the actor for Dominic Toretto spoke about the upcoming movie: “You see a lot in the trailer, but you haven’t seen anything yet – and that’s exciting… There’s so much more.”
The star also confirmed that the decision to terminate the series was debated back in 2012 and 2013, although they claimed there would be just 10 movies at the time.
Fast & Furious 9 will be released on May 28, 2021.
