In Singapore’s Fusionopolis Tech Park, you will see a huge glass-windowed building shaped like a weird horseshoe. You will be looking at The Sandcrawler. If it sounds familiar, it is the name for the mobile fortress of the Jawas in the Star Wars franchise.
Rightfully so since this building is Lucasfilm’s Singapore facility. It opened in September 2013 by George Lucas himself.
This building has eight floors of office space, retail shopping, a 100-seat theatre, and dense foliage which accents its modern exterior.
With the size of 22,500 square meters, this campus features a Yoda fountain and state-of-the-art digital production capabilities. Lucasfilm’s decision to cement its presence in the city-state is a reflection of Singapore’s rapid development as a digital animation hub.
