Major companies have been taking drastic actions amid the invasion of Ukraine. For those who might not know, the action that has been done would be that they officially pulled out of businesses with Russia. Especially, they all are the US and also European companies. This decision also was made due to the economic free fall that happened there.
As of now, all the companies come from different backgrounds. Some mentioned are, food and beverages companies, fashion companies, telecommunication companies, and others. Unfortunately, Russia has to face the consequences.
List for major companies pulling out of Russia
1) Disney
First and foremost, Disney is the earliest entertainment company that has made the decision to halt the theatrical releases in Russia. This has been finalized in their statement saying, “Given the unprovoked invasion of Ukraine and the tragic humanitarian crisis, we are pausing the release of theatrical films in Russia”. They do set an example.
2) Ikea
Next, Ikea has decided to halt the production that they have in Russia. Other than that, they would also be going to temporarily close all Ikea stores located in the country. According to a report, the company has stopped the shipment that they suppose to have between them and Russia. That is including the to and from shipment.
3) Apple
The next one would be, the Apple company. They have stated that they are going to pause its product sales in Russia. In addition, they also block access from any iPhone’s App Store that is outside of Russia to the state media outlets of Russia Today and Sputnik. This decision has really influenced many other companies in the United States.
4) TikTok
In the same way, all live streaming and also sharing of content in Russia have been officially suspended. The company decided on that by posting a statement saying they had to stop the service in the country to respond to Russia’s new law.
5) McDonald’s
Amazingly, McDonald’s has decided to shut down temporarily more than 800 restaurants in Russia. This is in response to the invasion that the country done in Ukraine. Despite that, the company will continue paying its 62,000 Russian employees. That is definitely so kind of them to do that towards the employees.
6) The Coca-Cola Company
The Coca-Cola Company mentioned in a statement on 8th of March, “Our hearts are with the people who are enduring unconscionable effects from these tragic events in Ukraine. We will continue to monitor and assess the situation as circumstances evolve”.
7) Starbucks
As stated on Starbucks website, “Our licensed partner has agreed to immediately pause store operations and will provide support to the nearly 2,000 partners in Russia who depend on Starbucks for their livelihood”. Likewise, this company also has suspended the business ativity and shipment in Russia.
