A film director, Azhari Mohd Zain, 50, passed away last night. He took his last breath at his home in Sunway Alam Suria, Shah Alam, around 12:30 am. We lost a great person in the industry.
According to Azhari’s wife, Wahizatul Nureen Azmi, he was at home, and she was there by his side before he took his last breath.
It is reported that Azhari has been sick for nine months. He suffered from a stroke last February which made him bedridden. He has gone through further treatment for his state at the UiTM Hospital, Hospital Universiti Teknologi Mara for three months. Nevertheless, his state deteriorated in July this year.
The news of his passing was also shared by a friend of his, David Teo who is also a film director, and a producer. He announced the sad news through his Instagram.
His captioned, ” A sad news for the film industry. We lost a shining gem.”
“May his soul be blessed, and in peace, and may he be among the other believers. Al-Fatihah.”
Azhari is famous for his work in directing films. His works include Santau, 7 Petala Cinta, Hantu Dalam Botol Kicap, Mantra, Flat 3A, and Zoo. These films captured the hearts of many people in Malaysia.
