Jerusalem’s Church Of Holy Sepulchre Shut Due To COVID-19

JERUSALEM, 26 March- Jerusalem’s Church of the Holy Sepulcher was requested shut on Wednesday for seven days, as an insurance against the coronavirus, church authorities said.

“The Church of the Holy Sepulcher will be shut from 5 p.m. on Wednesday,” Wadie Abu Nassar, media representative of the Assembly of Catholic Ordinaries of the Holy Land, said.

He said the choice followed a gathering between Israeli police and senior church pioneers on Wednesday.

“Obviously the congregation heads communicated understanding. The underlying comprehension is that this request is legitimate for multi-week, even though no one knows to what extent this emergency will take,” he said.
