No Green Light On Any Concept of Ramadan Bazaar – Ismail Sabri

PUTRAJAYA, April 16  — No Ramadan Bazaar, either in the form of physical stalls or the concept of drive-thru, pack-and-pick up, or e-hailing delivery, will be permitted during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the decision on the matter was made at the meeting of the Special Ministerial Committee on the MCO, after taking into consideration the consequences of the proposed new concept of the bazaar should it be permitted during the upcoming fasting month.

“If we were to have physical bazaar, with 50 stalls in a place, and uses e-hailing service to pick up customers’ orders, that is not possible and not allowed.

“However, the ongoing e-hailing and home delivery business can proceed as usual,” he told the daily press conference here today.

Prior to this, it was proposed that Ramadan e-bazaar using the concept of drive-thru, pack-and pick-up, as well as e-hailing delivery, be permitted as an alternative to the normal Ramadan bazaar, which could not be organised during the MCO to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

In another development, Ismail Sabri said the Talian Kasih had received 135 calls on domestic violence incidents during the MCO period so far.

He said the public are encouraged to continue giving their cooperation to the police and the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development by channeling any information about such incidents.

“They can also do so by sending a text message to Talian Kasih 15999 or by WhatsApp at 019-261 5999. The police will investigate and take the necessary action,” he said.

The Talian Kasih hotline was created with the aim to help address any case of domestic violence during the MCO. – BERNAMG
