The continent of Europe will be experiencing a summer vacation that has been eagerly awaited by travelers from around the world.
Seeing the positive changes of COVID-19 spreading from day by day, the European Commission last week announced plans to reopen their country’s borders to revive the tourism industry, which has been hit hard by the pandemic.
While many countries do not recommend less important travel due to concerns over the possibility of a second or third wave of the outbreak, some countries in particular whose economy is heavily dependent on the tourism sector are planning to open their doors to tourists as early as June.
Let’s take a look at the 12 lists of destinations that are starting to give “green lights” for travelers to visit next summer: –
1. Portugal
Beginning in mid-March, Portugal has relieved by allowing shops and restaurants to re-operate and become one of the first European countries to welcome foreign visitors.
Portugal’s Foreign Minister Santos Silva announced that although flights from outside the European Union had not been given the green light until June 15, they would still allow more tourists especially from Europe and strict health checks would be carried out at airports.
For the record, Portugal recorded 31,007 COVID-19 positive cases with 1,342 deaths.
2. Florida
The Florida island of the United States began shutting down tourists since March 22. As the economy of the island depends on the tourism sector, the location is expected to resume operations on June 1, as announced by the Florida Keys and Key West’s Office of Management, Rita Irwin.
In addition, to implement social incarceration and disinfection guidelines, the first phase of the reopening of tourist destinations in Florida will be limited to only half the quota of accommodation and that number will be re-evaluated by the end of this month.
3.Mexico
Mexico’s most popular tourist attractions such as Cancun, Tulum, and the Riviera Maya are expected to host international tourists between June 8 and 10, according to Mexico News Daily.
The reopening coincided with the resumption of flights from the US, Canada, and Europe to the area. In conjunction with the reopening of the tourist destination, a new hygiene protocol will also be provided.
Interestingly enough to welcome tourist arrivals, Cancun and several other destinations in Quintana Roo also offer free overnight stays and other exciting discounts to holidaymakers there throughout the year.
4.Cyprus
Cyprus is expected to start welcoming all tourists on June 9. However, it only plans to allow visitors from countries that it considers “safe,” and those with low infection rates.
There are 19 countries on this list including Germany, Austria, Greece, Finland, Denmark, and Norway.
5.Iceland
The Prime Minister of Iceland said the country would provide a green light for tourists on June 15.
Only tourists who are screened and negative for the COVID-19 test will be allowed to enter without having to go through the quarantine process for 14 days.
6.Greece
Many Greek businesses such as hair salons and bookstores have been open since early May. Starting June 1, the hotel will be allowed to operate again in preparation for receiving tourist arrivals to the country beginning mid-June.
Greece’s prime minister said the COVID-19 test screening would be carried out at the airport and temperature checks would also be carried out at hotels and restaurants around the country.
7.Italy
Italy is the country with the longest record of lockdown in Europe from March 10 to May 4 when 62 million people were ordered to evacuate indoors. But the Italian government has now announced that its country is planning to allow international travel beginning June 3.
Only the first phase of Europeans will be allowed to visit Italy and by June 15, visitors from outside the European Union will be given the green light.
8. Virgin Island, AS
According to a press conference, Governor Albert Bryan Jr has partnered with the U.S. Department of Tourism, the Department of Health, and the U.S. Virgin Islands Tourism Association to allow tourists on June 1.
It was after the current situation in the archipelago that it was seen to be recovering and improving. To date, the Virgin Islands, United States has recorded 69 positive COVID-19 cases with 6 deaths.
9. Saint Lucia
The government of Saint Lucia has announced a gradual reopening to tourists beginning June 4, through the re-authorization of international flights.
However, visitors must submit a negative COVID-19 test upon arrival and must be subject to temperature checks at airports, hotels, and restaurants, as well as the need to wear masks and perform social incarceration.
Saint Lucia has only 18 confirmed positive COVID-19 cases, without any death cases.
1o. Caribbean Island
Caribbean National Weekly reports that Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Minister Charles Fernandez said in a virtual meeting to reopen the country’s gateway via American Airlines flights from Miami scheduled for June 4.
It will be the first international passenger flight to the country in 10 weeks under curfew. Antigua and Barbuda have 25 positive cases of COVID-19 and 3 deaths.
11. Spain
According to Reuters, Spain’s Minister of Transport José Luis Ábalos hopes tourists will be granted permission to visit the country starting at the end of June.
However, no further details are provided. Although the 14-day quarantine is mandatory for visitors arriving in Spain since last week, Ábalos says the travel ban will be lifted soon.
12. Aruba
Aruba has announced that it will welcome visitors between June 15 and July 1. Aruba authorities are currently considering additional precautionary measures if necessary in order to accommodate the arrival of foreign tourists.
Latest, Aruba has 101 positive COVID-19 cases with 3 deaths.
