The government has allowed ‘ibadah korban’ to be held in the Federal Territory according to the standard operating procedure (SOP) set by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM).
As said Senior Minister (Security Cluster), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, the activity was only allowed in mosques, surau, or areas that allowed by religious authorities only.
“This permission is for the Federal Territories because other states are subject to their respective religious authorities. The Department of Islamic Development Malaysia at a special meeting of ministers has prepared a complete SOP for ibadah korban.
He added that other states could also follow the SOP if they carried out the activity publicly.
“Other than mosques, surau, and areas that have been approved by religious authorities and PBT, there are 28 Department of Veterinary Services slaughterhouses and 31 Veterinary Service Department licensed private slaughterhouses that we allow to serve as slaughter centers,” he said.
In addition, organizers will need to report the korban activities that wanted to be held to the nearest district office.
In fact, only 30 workers were allowed to conduct one session of ibadah korban from start to finish.
“Attendance capacity is also 250, just like the attendance capacity of any other activity that has been allowed. Workers are limited to one cow, not more than 30 employees,” added Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri.
