Pakistan Hospitals Running Out of Beds, Cases Recorded More Than 100,000

As reported by the Pakistan health authorities yesterday, there are more than 100,000 cases of COVID-19 that has been confirmed. Not just that, the hospitals in Pakistan also has warned that they are running out of beds to treat patients.

Many doctors from several main hospitals in Lahore said that not just bed, but they were also running out of ventilators and other vital equipment.

“As the cases increase, more health care workers are also falling victim to the virus,” said a doctor from Services Hospital Lahore, Farooq Sahil.

“Hospitals are running out of beds, there aren’t enough ventilators given to us,” said Khizer Hayat, chairman of the Young Doctors Association of Punjab. He also stated that all facilities across the province needed help.

While in the southern port city of Karachi, health facilities had to reject new patients. A large sign has been put near the entrance of Indus hospital saying that there are no rooms for COVID-19 patients.

Pakistan Prime Minister, Imran Khan said yesterday that he expected the virus to be on the highest peak by the end of July. It is also believed that the Prime Minister was reluctant to call for a lockdown in order to protect the economy.

Until today, Pakistan has reported more than 100,000 COVID-19 cases with 2,000 death because of the virus.
