The most active volcano in Indonesia, Mount Merapi was reported to have erupted twice yesterday, releasing hot gas and ashes in a massive column as high as 6 kilometers into the sky.
It is believed that the eruption was visible and rumbling sound can be heard from a distance. Both eruptions reportedly took about 7 minutes.
The dust was also reported to cover air space nearby. Residents of the surrounding area were also told to stay away from the volcano and asked for caution with the subsequent eruption.
Out of 500 Indonesian volcanoes,Mount Merapi is the most active volcanoes The last major eruption happened in 2010 and killed at least 353 people.
