The Reggae Ambassador of Asia, Malaysian-Tamil artist Sasi The Don recently rocked the world by his music. “Daddy Don” has reached thousands of plays across the world, especially in Jamaica. Holding the record for the most number of songs collaborated on, Sasi has worked with some of the biggest artists including Apache Indian, Dr. Alban, Maxi Priest, the legendary Amy Search, Anita Sarawak, to name a few.
Daughter Inspires Sasi The Don With A New Hit, Tribute To Fathers All Over The World
“I did strongly voice my views about the lack of support from Malaysian radio stations towards local artistes and the future generation of upcoming creative talents. When Daddy Don was released, it was played in over eight countries. Yet it is so challenging for a Malaysian artist to even have a spot in our very own local radio stations.
We need greater support for our songs to be played on our local stations so that our fans and friends can enjoy the music of international standing with world hit songs by local artists,“ said Sasi The Don.
This new single is filled with his own unique style that has evolved over the past 20 years. Sasi The Don is a perfect combination of Jamaica and Asia where he used to work with international reggae artistes. The song features IBKINX, an artist from Nigeria and Gayathri on vocals and produced by Sai The Don & D’Navigator.
“Daddy Don” is inspired by Sasi The Don’s seven-year-old daughter, Shanaiya Lakshmi. The music video beautifully melds with the song shows the parent-child relationship.
“This is a tribute from my daughter and me to fathers all over the world. She is one of the reasons I came up with this song. Understanding my daughter, my nephews, nieces, children from different walks of life has given me a different perspective.”
Sasi The Don was the first reggae artiste from Asia to be given that title by Reggae Ambassadors Worldwide, an international NGO for reggae music back in 2002.
