Sometimes we take things lightly just because it happens to us all the time. That is what a man in Singapore did and had his finger chopped off. He was washing fresh prawns without are of their spiky exteriors make them a pain to prepare.
One day right after being pricked by a fresh prawn, the man lost most of his finger. Thankfully, he was rushed to the Accident and Emergency (A&E) department quickly. This accident also might kill him if he waits for a few days more before getting treatment.
The next day, his finger started to turn black and he developed a mild fever. He went to a clinic in Toa Payoh and was immediately sent to the A&E.
He underwent surgery and had part of his finger that has been infected with bacteria removed.
According to the doctor, he had been attacked by “flesh-eating bacteria”, which can infect its victim through broken skin. The bacteria could have quickly spread as far as his armpit, and other parts of his body.
