Recognizing Abuse and Neglect: Signs and Symptoms

According to WebMd, abuse of power or control can be just as detrimental to physical and mental health.  Researcher Ann L. Coker, PhD, of the University of Texas School of Public Health, in a news release mentioned, physical and sexual abuse, as well as psychological abuse or battering, can be harmful to men and women equally.

According to Public Health Malaysia, the following signs may signal the presence of abuse or neglect.

1. Always apologize for the cause

2. Easy to cry and cry in small quarrels

3. It is difficult to calm down

4. Often feel imperfect

5. Always hide their feelings

6. Often feel fear for no reason
