2-Year-Old Dog Provides Therapy To Firefighter

California is battling wildfires that have burned over million of acres last week. About 650 wildfires have sparked by heatwaves and lightning since August 15.

The firefighters have been working to put off the fire. Some of them have to work on 24-hour shifts as there are not enough sources. They are sacrificing a lot in handling the blazes.

They are surely exhausted to fight off the blazes. This is the time for Kerith, the 2-year-old golden retriever to comfort the firefighters.

Kerith is a certified crisis response therapy dog. She loves her job and she always spread love to the firefighters on the Woodward Fire in California’s Marin County. She is definitely a support system for the firefighters.

Heidi Carmen, Kerith’s owner said that Kerith boosts the morale of firefighters during their morning briefing. Even though they know they are going to have a hard day, Kerith brings levity and a sense of playfulness in them.

Carmen’s family adopted her after they saw Kerith was on duty as a guide dog. Her energetic and super-affectionate nature makes her be more suitable to become a comfort dog. Kerith later received certification from the Pet Partners therapy dog organization and began making the rounds as a therapy dog in her local hospital emergency ward.

Later, firefighters invited Kerith to their stations and Kertih started to become more affectionate with them. One firefighter told Carmen that Kerith makes him feel as if he is the most important person in the world. Carmen said Kerith always makes people feel loved, special, and important.
