ARAU, Aug 7 —The Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) has ordered the closure of 12 mosques in the Sanglang state constituency and neighboring areas, effective today, due to the recurrence of the COVID-19 infection
Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, who is also MAIPs president, in a statement today, said the mosques would be closed until a date to be announced later.
“To date effect, today’s Friday prayers for the affected constituents will be replaced with Zohor prayer at their respective homes,” he added.
The affected mosques are seven in the Sangland state constituency, namely Masjid Al-Rahman, Kg. Simpang Sanglang; Masjid Al-Maghfirah, Sungai Korok; Masjid Darul Salam, Kampung Padang Keria; Masjid Al-Makmur, Kampung. Bongor Kudung; Masjid Al-Furqan, Kampung Bunga Emas; Masjid Asy-Syakur, Kampung Permatang Bongor and Masjid Dato’ Jaafar Hassan, Kampung Sungai Padan.
Three mosques are in the Simpang Empat state constituency — Masjid Putra, Simpang Empat; Masjid Al-‘Ilmi, Sungai Berembang and Masjid Ameer Fawwaz, Kampung Sungai, while the other two mosques are in the Guar Sanji state constituency — Masjid Nurul Yaqin, Kampung Chantik Bangun and Masjid Nurul Muttaqin, Kampung Che Ok.
