According to the World Drug Report, it is estimated that about 35 million people are suffering from the misuse and overdose consumption of drugs. The illegal drug trade has become much more complex and severe over the years.
Drug trafficking is a global problem. It is a global black market referring to the manufacture and distribution of drugs illegally. It is illegal to sell and distribute drugs without a license. Illegal drug dealers can be as creative as they can to distribute drugs. Police have to constantly be updated with new synthetic drugs and new trafficking routes.
Recently, two men were caught distributed drugs by sending hundreds of packages through postboxes. The drugs were sent to addresses in the U.K., Australia, and America.
Around 1,800 parcels were found by the investigators. The parcels had been sent for a month around Chelmsford in Essex. The packages contain drugs including crack cocaine, heroin, MDMA, cannabis, LSD, ketamine, crystal meth, ecstasy, and amphetamine. The street value of the drugs had been estimated at around £517,500.
Royal Mail detected their unlawful activities after discovering 54 packages containing drugs. Both of them pleaded guilty for their parts in a conspiracy to sell the drugs. They were put into prison for 10 years each while Charles was suspended for two years.
They have admitted three charges of distributing to class A drugs and two charges to supply class B drugs. James Willoughby admitted to supplying to class B drugs. Drugs and all their technical equipment used in their conspiracy were seized and will be destroyed.
