One Step Closer To Flying Car, US Air Force Tests New Plane

Before the millennium, people are expecting that by the year 2020, we will be using flying cars instead of traditional road cars. However, when the year arrived, there are still no flying cars flying in the air.

People are saying that flying cars will be proof that we are getting modernize and having advanced technology. Up until today, many automobile companies are developing flying cars. This can be one step closer to getting flying cars.

Recently, the U.S. Air Force is testing a flying car that can be a part of their planes. The flying car, Hexa weights 432-pound craft that is supported with 18 independent rotors.

The car was made by Texas-based LIFT Aircraft and can be controlled by a joystick. LIFT CEO, Matthew Chasen piloted the car during a demonstration of the vehicle.

Hexa is controlled by a three-axis joystick and can be used by anyone without a pilot’s license. It can transport a single passenger. The creator of this flying car said that flying Hexa is safer than flying a traditional small plane.

The test flight was conducted at Camp Mabry. It was part of a partnership between the Air Force and private aerospace firms.

Japan, being the advanced country in technology, is hoping to release a flying car to the market by 2023. SD-XX, a two-person eVTOL technology craft was unveiled by the Tokyo-based SkyDrive. It can reach a max speed of about 62 mph.
