A magnitude 6.5 earthquake on the Richter scale shook Makassar in Sulawesi, Indonesia at 12.09 this afternoon.
According to a statement from the Malaysian Meteorological Department on Twitter, the incident occurred at 78 kilometers northwest of Makassar at a depth of 750 kilometers and a distance of 78 kilometers from Northwest Makassar, Indonesia.
However, the incident did not pose a tsunami threat to Malaysia, as said by the statement.
