Driver Rapes COVID-19 Patient In Ambulance While Taking To The Hospital In India

Kerala, India, a girl was raped by her ambulance driver as she was on her way to a hospital for COVID-19 treatments.

The recent incident happened on 5 September 2020 when the driver 25-year-old Noufal V was supposed to transport two Covid-19 patients, a 19-year-old victim, and an elderly woman. The driver had sent the elderly woman to the hospital before he took the victim to a spot near the Aranmula Airport and raped her.

It said that after raping the patient, the driver then dropped her at the COVID-19 treatment center. The victim was undergoing quarantine at her relative house in Pandalam before she tested positive for COVID-19. She then was forced to be taken to the hospital for treatment.

It said that the driver then arrested a day later, following the girl’s report and the case has been filed on charges of sexual assault and rape.

KK Shailaja, Kerala’s Health Miniter has expressed her shock over the incident and has ordered the driver to be removed from his position.
