Malaysia In Monsoon Transition Phase To Begin Thursday – MetMalaysia

Malaysia is expected to enter the monsoon transition phase starting this Thursday (September 24). During this phase, there will usually be thunderstorms with heavy rain and strong winds in a short period of time.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department in a statement on Facebook today informed that the weather conditions have the potential to cause flash floods and damage to unsustainable structures.

“The monsoon transition phase, the weather conditions usually occur in the afternoon and early night in most areas of the states on the west and inland coasts of the Peninsula, the west coast of Sabah and the western and central areas of Sarawak,” the statement said.

The beginning of this phase marks the end of the Southwest Monsoon which began on May 18, 2020.

During this period also the sky is usually clear in the morning and areas in the region of the country will receive weak winds from various directions conducive to the formation of thunderstorm clouds in the afternoon.

The public is advised to be more vigilant during the transition phase of the monsoon phase and always be sensitive to weather forecasts and warnings issued by MET Malaysia through websites, myCuaca applications and social media.
