New Emojis Coming To Your Keyboard, Expected Release In January 2021

Emojis are ideograms and smileys used in electronic messages. They were used for us to convey emotions in virtual life when it is a bit hard to express feelings through writing. Some people will get misunderstood with some of our messages as each people will read the message with different tones and feelings.

Emojis have evolved into something important in our life. When most of our social gatherings occurred online nowadays due to COVID-19. Thus, emojis play a big role in connecting us with other people.

As the pandemic has affected many peoples’ lives, the Unicode Consortium, the organization that is responsible for creating emojis decided to come out with a line of new emojis. The organization is working on releasing 217 new emojis between January and October 2021.

The new emoji version 13.1 will include over 200 skin tone options for the existing avatars. Some of the emojis that will be released reflect the chaos that is happening in this year. Other additions of the emojis include a heart on fire, a face exhaling, a face with spiral eyes, and a face in the clouds.

The emojis have been mimicking our real life and society closely. They have evolved and have been improving to suit various cultures in society.

A Unicode committee has an annual meeting where the members will discuss improving the emojis. The participants of the meeting will discuss why a particular emojis should be updated or added. All emoji users always get excited upon the release of the new emojis.
