Seven-Year-Old Girl Asks Doctors To ‘Let Her Die’ As She Is Tired Of Being Abused

Known as ‘Yaz’, a seven-year-old girl remains in a  serious condition in hospital after she was severely beaten on August 21. When she was admitted to Hospital de Las Margaritas in Pueblo, Mexico, doctors said she had internal bleeding, a collapsed lung, burn marks on her back, cigarette burns on her arms and hands, and also signs of sexual assault.

The doctors claim that Yaz told them, “I want to die…I don’t want to go back to my parents so that they keep hitting me,”.

Reported that the girl was taken to the hospital by a neighbor who witnessed the brutal treatment.

According to the Attorney General of the State Puebla, the victim’s parents, have been charged with family violence and child abandonment. The girl’s uncle reportedly on the run after being accused of sexually assaulting her.

Yaz was physically harmed on at least three other occasions but nothing was done about those incidents. In April, she had surgery for intestinal damage and was admitted to the hospital in February with few cuts on her legs. Her father said the girl’s mother caused the cuts.

Detectives are also investigating the death of Yaz’s three-year-old sister, who died in June. Her official cause of death was listed as accidental asphyxiation – the process of being deprived of oxygen- but The Development of Family Integrity (DIF) has now pushed to reopen the case.

Frida Guerrera, woman’s rights activist Frida Guerrera believes the mother was also a victim of domestic violence and feared for her life.

She said, “If the Puebla authorities had done their job since January, which was the first moment that there were indications that the girl had suffered sexual violence, the girl would not be in the hospital now, and Mitzi (her little sister) would not be dead. Of course, there is institutional responsibility in this,”.
