Singapore Airlines Turns The World’s Largest Aircraft Into Restaurant

Converting an old plane into a restaurant is not a new concept, but using an aircraft that is still active for that purpose shows that the airline’s financial pressures are at an alarming level.

Most recently, Singapore Airlines plans to turn one of the world’s largest passenger planes into a restaurant and offer food delivery services to customers’ homes.

This initiative was undertaken to reconnect the company with customers after the COVID-19 outbreak hit the world, affecting the aviation industry.

Due to the small country and the small domestic network, Singapore Airlines has suffered financial problems and had to lay off one-fifth of its staff.

Other than turning planes into a restaurant and food delivery service, Singapore Airlines also offers tours for customers to experience for themselves at their training center.

“COVID-19 has drastically reduced the number of flights operated by the SIA Group, we have done unique activities that allow us to interact with our fans and customers over the years,” said Goh Choon Phong, CEO of Singapore Airlines (SIA).

For customers, they surely want to feel the dining experience on the A380, the world’s largest passenger plane. Customers also can choose different cabin classes and menus to be prepared by international chefs. Even more uniquely, customers who come wearing traditional clothing will receive a special gift.

As for the food delivery services, Singapore Airlines will provide a welcome video, food heating guide as well as a specially prepared playlist for the purpose of recreating the experience of being on a plane.
