When coronavirus hits the world at the end of 2019, many countries started to take safety measures to prevent the spread of the disease. One of the steps taken is by implementing lockdown to the residents. This step is proven to curb the spread of the disease.
However, staying at home for too long can be quite boring. People are looking for some fun that they can do while keeping themselves safe at home. Kids too are affected by the lockdown. They feel as if their freedom to play outside has been restricted.
This restriction has led the parents in Australia to come up with “Spoonvilles” for the kids. As the world has become gloomy because of the coronavirus, the parents decided to create uplifting activities aimed to brighten the children’s’ days.
These “Spoonvilles” has become a lockdown craze for kids and adults. The spoon villages started appearing anywhere there’s accessible public land. You just have to put up the “Spoonville” signboard with one or two “cutlery villagers” to start the neighborhood.
The activity is to ensure that the kids feel they’re a part of the community despite unable to see their friends and neighbors. This activity is popular in Melbourne where the community is in stage-four lockdown.
A child development expert, Dr. Caroline Moul said that the activity is a great way to keep the children being engaged with the community. It also had benefited many children to overcome their boredom for staying at home for months.
