Stop Doing These 7 Things That Might Annoys Your Cats

Cats can be perfect companions for humans. Most people prefer to have cats as pets because cats can take care of and groom themselves without formal training.

We also choose cats because of their cute and adorable attitudes. However, there are some times where cats are annoyed with us. Here are the reasons why your cat might be annoyed by you.

1. Rubbing on the belly

Rubbing the cat’s belly is not welcomed for most of the time. The cat has a very sensitive tummy which it will use for hunting and prey instincts. When you rub the stomach, it will try to run away or bite you. But different cats have different preferences. There are cats that like to be rubbed on the tummy. The most suggested way to pet your cats is by petting their cheeks and the side of their head instead.

2. Playing with their tail

Cats’ tails allow them to sense things around them. Holding the tail can feel like an annoyance to the cat. Cats really dislike their tails being pulled or held.

3. Spraying fragrance around the house

Cats’ noses are hypersensitive. Strong smells can disrupt their appetite and cause uneasiness. Cats will avoid locations with a strong odor. There are fortunately some smells that might attract cats such as catnip, lavender, and silver vine.

4. Playing loud music

Loud noises can be confusing and scary for pets. They are also sensitive to sounds and this can cause stress and anxiety for them. Cats can be annoyed not only from loud music but also when you talk using a high-pitched baby voice with them.

5. Creating sudden changes

Cats are afraid of changes in their life and hate it when their routine is disrupted. They are anxious to even a small change such as moving the litter box to another place. When you have to make the changes, make sure you do it as gradually as possible. Reassures them that everything is okay.

6. Dressing them up in outfits

Cats might be holding a grudge on you when you put them into outfits. They dislike the idea as it will make their movement restricted and uncomfortable. This might create a bad relationship between you and your cat. If you really want to put your pet into an outfit, make the cat used to the idea slowly. Put the clothes on the cat for one or two minutes on the first try before leaving it longer on the cat’s body.

7. Picking them up

Cats don’t like to be picked up and hugged when they are not willing to. An animal behavior researcher, Dennis C. Turner stated that cats will forgive the acts when it is done by their keepers even though they don’t like it that much. The best way is to give them space until they want attention from you and make the first move.
