A vaccine volunteer from China, Sinovac has tested positive for the COVID-19 outbreak after returning from Semarang, Indonesia. He was vaccinated from China a month ago as part of 450 volunteer clinical trials conducted in Bandung.
Kusnandi Rusmil, Head of the Covid-19 Vaccine Clinic Research Team at the Faculty of Health, explained that the volunteers were infected with the outbreak before the second stage of injection.
“He has undergone the first injection. When he arrived in Semarang, he received a positive test, “said Kusnandi.
It is understood that, based on the procedure, volunteers who agree to try clinical trials are encouraged to leave the city and must take care of their physical condition.
If forced to leave the city, volunteers are asked to report to the clinical trial supervisory team.
Earlier, Indonesia, which was severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, was reportedly ready to develop the Red and White vaccine as early as mid-2021.
According to Indonesian President Joko Widodo, the research and development of this vaccine are currently underway at the Eijkman Molecular Biological Board (LBM) through the collaboration of a Chinese company using the original Indonesian viral DNA. He added that the initial production of this vaccine indirectly made Indonesia the earliest country in ASEAN to produce it.
