China Is Building ‘High-Rise Pig Hotels’ To Protect From Swine Flu

A private agricultural company from China has built an ‘apartment’ complex dedicated to pigs on the slopes of Mount Yaji in southern Guangxi and is estimated to be the largest in the world.

With the concept of closed rooms, it was built to prevent the risk of a pig flu outbreak that has killed 200 million individuals or half of the world population since 2018.

The farm is expected to produce 840,000 piglets each year. Each building has 13 floors and this makes it the tallest farm in the world.

“There are many advantages to high-rise livestock,

“This building saves energy and resources. Although the soil is not large, there are many pigs that can be raised here,” said the manager.

Traditional farms that preserve pigs in one collusion previously had a high risk of disease contagion. While this type of high-rise farms are highly controlled and its biosafety standards outperform traditional farms, said Robert Herrmann, executive officer of market analyst firm Mecardo said to ABC.

For the record, Yangxiang is not the only Chinese agricultural company to have this idea. Reuters reported Shenzhen Jinxinnong Technology Co Ltd also plans to build two five-story pig farms in southeastern China’s Fujian province.
