A moderate earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale occurred in Mindoro, Philippines at 2.16 this morning.
According to a statement from the Malaysian Meteorological Department on Facebook, the quake occurred about 40 kilometers (km) southwest of Batangas City, Philippines at a depth of 132 km.
However, the incident did not pose a tsunami threat to Malaysia.
