Polluted River In Selangor Forces Water Treatment Plants To Shut Again

Tasks at the Sungai Selangor Water Treatment Plant (LRA) Phase One, Phase Two, Phase Three, and Rantau Panjang had to be stopped due to contamination of raw water sources detected in Sungai Selangor at 2 am, last night.

Air Selangor through a statement on Facebook informed that immediate action to release gravity water from HORAS 600 with a capacity of 285 million liters per day as well as the release of raw water from the dam of 800 million liters per day is done.

It is intended for the process of thawing and the ‘flushing’ of contaminants found in the Selangor River.

“Meanwhile, the Selangor Water Management Board has released raw water through the KL Larut pool pumping operation with a capacity of 336 million liters per day for the same purpose.

“Until 6.30 this morning, pollution is still detected in Sungai Selangor at level 1 TON,” the statement said today.

In this regard, unscheduled water supply disruptions occurred involving 1,196,457 accounts covering 1,292 areas in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Petaling, Klang / Shah Alam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor Gombak, and Kuala Langat.
