Swedish Couple Names Newborn ‘Twifia’ In Exchange To Get Free Internet For 18 Years

New parents in Sweden have decided to call their new daughter after the WiFi company as a free internet exchange for 18 years. Swiss internet provider Twifi is now offering deals for any parent who calls their newborn Twifius (for boys) or Twifia (for girls).

According to The Sun UK, the internet provider says on their website: “Simply upload a photo of your child’s civil birth certificate. After verification, Twifi will give you 18 years of free internet.”

The parents, aged 30 and 35, gave their baby girl named Twifia and said they would put the money they spent on WiFi into her account.

They hope the fund will allow Twifia to drive and buy a car when she is 18 years old.

“The longer I thought about it, the more unique the name became for me, and that was when the thing got its charm,” said the father.

“For me, the name Twifia also stands for connection in this context. For an eternal bond! There are much worse names. And the more often we say ‘Twifia’, the heartier the name sounds,” said the mother.

“We want to remain anonymous to those around us because we don’t want to justify ourselves. Because the accusation of having sold our child’s name hits us very hard,” added both parents.

It is said that Twifi boss Philippe Fotsch will pay for their internet even if his company is ruined as a “matter of honor”, and the offer is still open to other new parents.
