5 Horror-Thriller Films Where The Bad Guy Wins

In many films of different genres ever created, people would definitely want a happy ending so that it could be a satisfying closure for all the anticipated viewers. Usually, the good side would always defeat the bad side of the story so that the films make sense. On the contrary to these horror-thriller films, the bad side would win at the end.

These are 5 horror/thriller films that end with the bad side winning:

1) The Omen (1976)

The Omen (1976) is one of the best horror films to have come out in the ’70s. This film is just plain terrifying. Everything about the movie contributes to the feeling of the movie. Jerry Goldsmith’s Oscar-winning score, the great acting, the cinematography, and the scary as hell ending. The ending of this film is so disturbing because it shows that the bad side is still out there while the good side of the film has been defeated hence received mixed reviews from critics.

2) The Descent (2005)

The Descent is a 2005 British adventure horror film written and directed by Neil Marshall. The film follows six women who, having entered a cave system, struggle to survive against the humanoid creatures inside. The ending of this film is Sarah wakes up at the bottom of the cave, crawls out, and makes her way back to the car. When she is driving away, she pulls over and vomits, and when she leans back into the car, she is startled by the ghost of Juno sitting in the passenger seat.

3) Eden Lake (2008)

Eden Lake is a 2008 British horror film written and directed by James Watkins and starring Kelly Reilly, Michael Fassbender, and Jack O’Connell. The film was nominated for the Empire Award for Best British Film. It has a very sad and disturbing ending. The bad guy who killed Steve and also burned Adam alive for his disobedience doesn’t get any punishment but the lady who accidentally kills a small boy gets killed by Brett’s family.

4) The Cabin In The Woods (2011)

When five college friends arrive at a remote forest cabin for a little vacation, little do they expect the horrors that await them. One by one, the youths fall victim to backwoods zombies, but there is another factor at play. Two scientists are manipulating the ghoulish goings-on, but even as the body count rises, there is yet more at work than meets the eye. The ending was disturbing and dark as well, The Director explains that The Ancient Ones will not attack Earth if Marty dies. Dana holds the gun to Marty as she feels one death is better than the entire planet. Dana gets taken down by a werewolf, the Director gets thrown over by the zombie that followed the duo down.

5) Jeepers Creepers (2001)

Philips and Long play two siblings who become the targets of a demonic creature (Breck) in rural Florida. The film is an American and German co-production. For the ending, it happened in the Creeper’s new hideout, an abandoned factory, it is revealed that the Creeper has removed the back of Darry’s head and taken his eyes. In a post-credits scene, the Creeper drives his truck into the sunset and honks its horn.
