Death of 15-Year-Old Teen In Louisiana Raises Suspicion of Lynching, Family Request Second Autopsy

On Oct. 30, a boy named Quawan “Bobby” Charles has been reported missing, then found dead days later. Being told that the boy had drowned, the family refuses to believe it because of his disfigured face, seeks an independent autopsy.

The family members of the 15-year-old boy, Quawan Charles demand more answers as to why the case is being kept discreet. They asked for a second independent autopsy to know what actually happened to him.

Reported missing on Oct. 30th in Baldwin, family members say that Quawan left his home with a 17-year-old friend and the teen’s mother without permission.

Quawan was later found dead in a rural area off Ed Broussard Road near Loreauville three days later, on Nov 3.

Celina Charles, the family advocate said that the authorities have yet to show them where his body was found. Simply wanting to put across in memory of him, she wanted to know why they won’t tell their family anything. Celina later accused them of being discreet.

Another reason why Celina and her family doesn’t believe that Quawan drowned is because of the graphic photo that’s circulating social media.

“His face is disfigured. So there’s some explaining that needs to be done there. His face is disfigured,” Charles said.

Attorney Ron Haley was called to represent the family, saying that they will surely get the answer soon. “They were told things like he’s probably at a football game, probably here there, anywhere else, and we don’t know if those delays could’ve contributed to his death. We know when there is a missing child, the most critical moment is when you first call law enforcement that the child is missing,” he added.

Haley said that they will demand arrest to the parties that are involved in the death of Quawan Bobby Charles, asking for preliminary findings of the coroner for their case and answers from the Baldwin Police Department.

Their stepfather, Jason Nelson said that the family just wants an honest and thorough investigation with the Iberia Parish Sheriff Department to tell them why Quawan had such injuries if he was “drowned.”

A second autopsy will be held, and Charles’ body will be brought to Texas for further examination.
