Exciting Helicopter Ride For Lucky 90 Langkawi Residents

LANGKAWI, Nov 20  — It has been an exciting day for 90 lucky residents from around Langkawi Island when they are given the opportunity to experience a helicopter ride over the famous Chenang Beach via cooperation between Heli Outpost Sdn Bhd and Ultra Saham Consulting Agency.

Heli Outpost chief executive officer Faiz Fahmi Sazali said his company received a sponsorship amounting to RM10,000 from Ultra Saham Consulting Agency as part of the latter’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) program.

“A total of 90 residents from around Langkawi experienced their first ride, free of charge, in a Robinson R44 helicopter with a capacity of four passengers (including the pilot). They were flown for five minutes by Captain Barnabas Koh over the breathtaking scenery around Chenang Beach.

“The programme also aims to help and revive the Langkawi tourism industry which has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said when met by reporters, here today.

Meanwhile, Ultra Saham Consulting Agency chief executive officer Mohamad Firdaus Abd Rahim said that his company decided to sponsor the programme as he was aware of the situation faced by tourism operators in Langkawi who were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, and the implementation of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) which put extra pressure on them.

“Through this programme, we want those selected, including the less fortunate, to experience this exciting ride. This sponsorship also aims to help and support the tourism industry on the island which is severely affected by the pandemic,” he said.

Meanwhile, one of the lucky residents, Mohd Ikromi Mansor was very grateful for the opportunity as it was once in a lifetime experience for his family as he was joined by his wife and their two young children, aged four and one, respectively.

“My four-year-old daughter Ummu Amni was very excited when our family was selected for this programme.

“This is a really good programme as provides an opportunity to us (to experience a helicopter ride) apart from supporting the Langkawi tourism industry. I will share my experience today with other friends so that when they visit this island they can also try this really exciting ride,” he said.
