RapidKL Staff Helps Woman Deliver Baby In LRT

A RapidKL staff on the Sri Petaling line, Shahira Nurdiyana Rauf, 37, along with her co-worker help a woman deliver a baby on the LRT Puchong Prima line on Nov. 9.

The staff of Rapid KL Route Sri Petaling, Shahira Nurdiyana Rauf, 32 years go through the most nerve-wracking moments and was forced to complete the task of helping someone give birth.

About 6.30 pm, she who is resting, heard a scream from a coworker asking for help. A 36-year-old woman on the ticket counter shows signs of distress, claiming she was a stomach ache. The signs show that she is about to give birth.

Looking at the situation, station staff, assisted by cleaning supervisors, brought the woman to the treatment room.
While waiting for the medical team to arrive, the woman involved safely gave birth to a baby boy with assistance from the operational staff of Rapid KL who acted as multi-taskers.

The woman and the baby were taken by an ambulance to Serdang Hospital to receive treatment. Shahira Nurdiyana, who just started the task after finishing the second child’s abstinence holiday is grateful that the baby and the woman are healthy.

The experience of giving birth to two children had helped her handle the anxious situation during the baby’s birth.  When asked, she was the one who was initially nervous through this anxious situation, however kept strengthening and trying her best to help the women involved.

Shahira’s action has received appreciation from Infrastructure management- she was celebrated in a simple ceremony at the Prasarana Headquarters at UOA Bangsar Tower.
