A private plane from Singapore had to make an emergency landing exactly on the North-South (PLUS) Highway near Sedenak in Johor. This incident happened on the 22nd of November 2020. According to the news, two Singaporean pilots have landed their own Beechcraft Bonanza F35 1957 at 47.8km southbound of the highway at 11.15 in the morning.
This emergency stop on North-South Expressway was done due to technical problems that occurred with the plane. The light aircraft has encountered an engine malfunction when the 52-year-old pilot names Dr. Yang Kuang Ying was calmly flying it 5,000ft above the ground. The aircraft is said to have radioed Johor’s Air Traffic Control Tower at 10.40 in the morning, requesting for a return landing specifically at the Senai airport, but the pilot has decided to perform an emergency landing on the highway in the end. As stated by the news, both pilots were in stable condition.

“Kilometer 47.9 North-South Highway heading south near here, this morning. It is understood that the pilot and another person on board were safe in the incident. Kulai District Police Chief Superintendent Tok Beng Yeow confirmed the incident when contacted by Harian Metro. According to him, traffic officers are still at the location for further action”.
Supt Tok Beng Yeow who is the Kulai district police chief said, “The oil pressure continued to drop rapidly and that’s when they decided to make an emergency landing on the expressway”. Dr. Yang Kuang Ying and also his co-pilot that is the 41-year-old man named Saleehullah Abdul Majid were not injured and the aircraft did not sustain any damage.
Supt Tok Beng Yeow stated, “They took off from the Seletar Airport in Singapore to the Melaka Airport in Batu Berendam in the morning prior to the incident”. He also added, “The pilots were on their second flight route, headed back towards Singapore when the incident took place. Investigations found that the pilots possessed the permission to fly the aircraft to get their flying hours, and therefore did not need to get a travel permit to cross the border”.
