Everyone knows for sure that individuals suspected of being exposed to the COVID-19 virus MUST undergo a 14-day quarantine period. However, do you know why these individuals need to undergo a quarantine period?
For those who do not know, this is because the duration of this COVID-19 virus in our body is between 4-5 days to 15 days.
According to the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH), a study showed that 98% of infected individuals only showed symptoms on the 11th day.
Through a post shared by MOH on Facebook, there are four important things that people need to know about the 14-day quarantine period.
Who needs to undergo a 14-day quarantine?
– Close contact with the COVID-19 case
– Just returned from abroad and high-risk areas
When does the quarantine period begin?
– After the first test, even if confirmed NEGATIVE, it is mandatory to undergo 14 days quarantine
Why 14 days?
– Virus incubation period: 4-5 days to 15 days
– Study: 97.5% of infected individuals show only symptoms on the 11th day.
When does the quarantine period end?
– Day 13: Repeat test
– If NEGATIVE, a release will be given on the 14th day
